After a snowstorm, I was trying to photograph some of the other members of the Bow Valley Wolf Pack in a dark, thickly wooded area. With the poor lighting conditions, and the wolves looking away from me, I didn’t think I had any “keepers” from this day.

It wasn’t until I got home and looked at the photos on my computer a few days later, that I realized this beautiful young wolf staring at me from the bushes! As always, the wolves knew I was there long before I noticed them.

I have seen this particular wolf several times before and believe her to be a female, based on how she behaves. I have another photograph of her here. She has a sweet, rounded face and thicker snout.

About the Wolves

Wild wolves do not have dominance structures so much as family ones. A pack is typically composed of a breeding male and female, with litters of pups at different ages with other (typically related) members. The Bow Valley Wolf Pack’s numbers do fluctuate, but I have seen up to 8 wolves together at one time.

Family is absolutely paramount, and every member has their place ensuring their safety and continued survival.

Wolves are known for their strong social bonds and pack mentality. They symbolize loyalty, cooperation, and unity. They teach the importance of working together and supporting one another. Wolves are also incredibly intuitive animals, always in close harmony with their surroundings.

They rely on their instincts to navigate through life and make decisions. In the spiritual sense, wolves encourage us to trust our intuition and follow our inner guidance.
