Cloaked in a blanket of snow, the majestic peaks of the Three Sisters Mountains reach for the heavens against a backdrop of cotton candy clouds.
This image was captured during one sunrise in autumn at one of my favourite spots to sit and enjoy the stillness. I love the ability of a photograph to transport you back through time and space.
About the Three Sisters Mountains
The Three Sisters Mountains stand as timeless sentinels over the town of Canmore, Alberta, Canada. They have come to be known by the locals as Faith, Charity and Hope, or more simply, Big Sister, Middle Sister and Little Sister.
For a brief time in 1883, the Three Sisters were even known as The Three Nuns as their snow-capped peaks resemble a nun’s habit. But over time, the Three Sisters stuck, a translation of the original Stoney Nakoda name.
All three peaks can be climbed, with varying degrees of difficulty.
